Through a very foolish and deceiving statement, Martin Kobler only mentioned the attack on Liberty and asked the Iraqi government to investigate it! He also has mentioned that all the injured individuals have been hospitalized! In his statement, he failed not only to mention the number of residents killed and wounded, but also failed to condemn such an attack. Needless to say that the plan of making the residents of Ashraf homeless through a compulsory transfer to Camp Liberty was designed and engineered by him. Hours before Kobler’s statement, an Iraqi official had told Agence France Press that the fatal attack killed 5 and injured at least 40. An Iraqi security authority also confirmed the involvement of 40 missiles in this attack.
By intention, Kobler seems to have forgotten that after the 8 April 2011 attack on Camp Ashraf that resulted in 36 deaths, Senator John Kerry, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, UN human rights chief Navi Pillay and the State Department unanimously called for an immediate investigation into this attack and as expected, the Iraqi government ignored it.
– On 12 April 2011, the State Department emphasized : “We just want to see that there’s a thorough investigation of what transpired there.”
– Senator John Kerry, as head of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, on 14 April 2011 announced: “The investigation must hold accountable the responsible parties and ensure that there will be no sequel to these horrific events.”
– UN High Commissioner on Human Rights Navi Pillay, on 15 April 2011 said : “There must be a full, independent and transparent inquiry, and any person found responsible for use of excessive force should be prosecuted.”
– And on 11 May 2011, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said: “ I have condemned that violence and have called for an inquiry. An inquiry that has to be as thorough as it is independent. They should tell us exactly what happened”
“The inquiry and condemnation are absolute,” she added.
The bitter truth is that Maliki does not recognize truthful investigations and Kobler is well aware of that.
It is worth noting that the same Martin Kobler accused the residents of Camp Liberty, in February 2012, that they themselves have sabotaged their own sewage tanks to portray a negative picture of the camp to the world. We hope Kobler will not come to this conclusion that the mortar attack was planned by the residents themselves from outside the well surrounded camp.
Immediately following the Iraqi forces’ April 2011 attack on Ashraf residents, the Iraqi Ground Forces Commander said only 3 residents were killed in the attack and the other 33 were killed by the residents themselves!
