Iran regime Supreme Leader argues that Europeans should not be in unison with the United States opposing the presence of the regime in the region and its missile projects

Khamenei, the leader of the clerical regime, took a position five days after the announcement of the US administration new policy against the clerical regime and the terrorist designation of the Revolutionary Guards. With a ridiculous claim that “we do not want to waste our time … by responding to the president of the United States,” he tried to conceal his fear and that of his regime from the US new policy. However, he warned the regime’s officials that “we should not be ignorant of the enemy’s plot and conspiracy, … because there are issues whose importance is no than war.” He accused “some of the officials” of the regime of “negligence” and “under the influence of the West”, saying they would “be traitors to the country” if they mean what they say.
“Europeans condemned the words of the president of the United States against the JCPOA … It is not enough … Well, JCPOA is in their favor. Firstly, Europeans must stand against the US actions… For example, they should stand against these sanctions or what they are now expecting to come out of their Congress,; it’s not enough to say that we disagree. Secondly, they should avoid entering into our fundamental issues such as our defensive power or things like that; they should not be in unison with the United States. If European governments say the same words of his [the US president] saying that why Iran is there in the region, so none of your business! Why it should have no presence?” said Khamenei appallingly disappointed by the Europeans being on the same side with the United States about the regime’s missile projects and criminal meddling in the region.
 
For the first time, Khamenei referred to missiles with a range of three thousand kilometers and said: When the United States says,” Why do you have a missile of two thousand kilometers range, or suppose it is three thousand kilometers, and then these (Europeans) come and say the same thing, that does not make sense! It is none of your business… If they want to interfere in the Islamic Republic’s defensive power and say words in this regard; we absolutely do not accept from Europeans; regarding the missiles and these words they are saying. Our defensive power must be increased every day, and of course, it will increase day by day as well. “
Prior to that, Hossein Shariatmadar, Khamenei’s representative in Kayhan daily, said in an interview with FARS, the IRGC news agency, on October 14 that “Our most effective response can and should be to unveil the continental ballistic missiles that is the US Achilles heel. Today, US is in some way in our neighborhood. Because it has 50 bases and several tens of thousands of troops in the region.”

“The Republicans, the Democrats, Trump, the Senate, Congress, all of these are the same, the European Union is not trustworthy,” said Tehran’s interim Friday Imam and the vice chairman of the Assembly of Experts of the regime. “Some are happy that the European Union supports the JCPOA. You should know that the European Union will certainly take side with the United States between Iran and the United States.” He added that the president of the United States “criticized Iran for having ballistic missiles, continental missiles. This is something the Quran is ordering us to do so.”
Khamenei’s and other regime officials’ words, on the one hand, show the fear of the regime from the consequences of the US new policy and, on the other, indicates the regime’s insistence to continue to carry out missile and regional interventions as the only way to survive the regime. They realize a step backwards from these would lead to the regime’s overthrow. Khamenei had said in last April, before its presidential election show, that Western countries are demanding changes in the regime’s behavior, and that change in behavior is the same as regime change.
