According to Iran state media, the mullahs’ regime’s suppressive ‘gender separation’ plan which was first implemented by Tehran’s  municipality and by Ghalibaf, mayor of Tehran, is now being implemented by other regime’s agencies. The extent of abhorrence of various sectors of the society and specially the women of this misogynous plan is so severe that it has prompted the regime’s authorities to defend this suppressive and medieval plan.
Ghalibaf said in this regard, “We should not allow a lady to be in contact and socialize during office hours with strangers for days and months, more than being with her close family members and husband and children. What’s happened to our dignity?”
Ali Bakhtiari, director general of bureau of administrative justice described this plan as ‘securing integrity of women’s working environment’ and said this move does not mean ‘a gender discrimination or separation’.  Mullah Pour-Mohammadi, Rouhani’s interior minister, who was a member of the three-member ‘Death Committee’ of 1988 massacre of political prisoners  and is known as ‘death minister’, regarded this plan as being “in conformity with the regime’s values that would increase the revenue.” (Fars news agency- July 23)
Also more than 183 members of the regime’s parliament commended this misogynous plan that has been conducted and implemented by Tehran’s mayor. They called it “special attention and tribute to women”.
Based on a resolution of council of mayors and their deputies on 17 May 2014, “all senior or median directors should use only male employees for posts such as chief of bureau, secretary, phone operator, typist, and in charge of follow-ups, etc. from  those employed in their office,” (ISNA state-run news agency- July 16, 2014).  This circular was confidentially notified to the municipalities by the council of deputy mayors of Tehran municipality. In the course of implementation of this resolution, some posts and jobs in the municipalities were banned for women, and a number of women lost their jobs in the municipality.
In line with this policy of gender apartheid, Tehran municipality is planning to separate benches used by boys and girls in parks. The Science and Technology University of Tehran has issued a repressive plan titled as “Moral Charter” based on which ‘no social intercourse of male and female students is allowed on the campus.’ Rules of this charter ban using perfume or after-shave.
In addition to this plan, the regime has intensified its repressive measures against women under unrealistic excuses:
– The number of imprisoned female bloggers has reached 10;
– A young woman was arrested by the agents of the SSF (State Security Force) while performing a piece of music at the City Hall of Karaj;
– Insulting, humiliation and harassment of women under the mullahs-fabricated ‘mal-veiling’ pretext remains in place;
Ms. Sarvnaz Chitsaz, Chair of the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, called the gender apartheid and suppressive medieval plans and expansion of repression against women of Iran as revealing the ignominious nature of ridiculous claim of mullah Rouhani’s ‘moderation’. She said these measures show the regime’s fear of social unrest in Iran where the women have always had the pioneering role.
“Silence and turning a blind eye of western countries to the disastrous situation of human rights in Iran, especially the rights of women, under the pretext of nuclear talks would just end with harsher repression in Iran. Any political or economic negotiation or deal with the Iranian regime must be conditioned upon the improvement of human rights, especially the rights of freedom-loving women, in Iran,” said Ms. Chitsaz.
