Iranian Resistance call for saving lives of dozens of prisoners about to be executed
On Sunday, April 12, the families and relatives of 16 prisoners on the death row who had been transferred to solitary confinement in Karaj central prison in preparation for the execution of this savage punishment gathered in front of this prison and called for the execution sentences of their loved ones to be repealed.
On Saturday, the clerical regime removed around 40 mostly young prisoners from various wards in Karaj central prison in preparation for their execution, but in fear of a riot by prisoners has transferred them to nearby prisons, including the prison in Qazvin. It is said that all these prisoners are to be executed in the coming days.
Some of the transferred prisoners are from wards 2 and 3 of Ghezel Hessar Prison that on 17 August 2014, in protest to the waves of collective and clandestine executions in this prison and to prevent the execution of a number of their cellmates who had been transferred to solitary confinement, had staged a protest and clashed with the guardsmen. The special guard of the prison quickly opened fire on the prisoners killing and injuring a great number of them by direct shots. Around 40 of the protesting prisoners were transferred from Ghezel Hessar to Gohardasht Prison as punishment and are now among the prisoners about to be executed.
The feeble regime of the mullahs, engulfed in deadly domestic and international crises and unable to rein in popular discontent and loath, has found no recourse but to resort to waves of secret executions.
The Iranian Resistance calls on all international bodies to take effective measures to save the lives of the prisoner on the verge of execution.
