The oppressive and anti-Iranian regime of the ruling clerics in our homeland that has nothing but devastation and destruction during 37 years of its shameful rule, in an unpopular move, moved to demolish the Takhti Stadium in Yasouj, in order to destroy a symbol of sport facilities in the city in addition to the destruction of a sports facility. This is while the people especially the youth are deprived from the smallest sports and recreational facilities and more than two third of the Iranian population live under the poverty line and more than seven million young people with university education are unemployed with an unknown future.
The demolition of Takhti Stadium in Yasouj is so shameful that the regime’s own state media have raised their voices. On August 29, 2016 Tasnim news agency in a report titled “Demolition of the Takhti Stadium, the worst event of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad soccer – construction of public parking replaces the symbol of the sports of Yasouj” quoted one of the athletes as saying: “custodians of the sport did a colossal betrayal to the sport in the province.” The report adds: “One of the veteran soccer coaches in the province said that a few years ago with the dissolution of the municipal soccer team of Yasouj, a deep wound was afflicted on the body of soccer of the province and reiterated that the demolition of this stadium completed the scenario of destruction of soccer in the province.”
According to the report, Parviz Mousavi, head of the Football Association of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad pointed to the visit of Rouhani government delegation from the province and said unfortunately, the only achievement of the government’s recent visit to the province was the demolition of Yasouj Takhti Stadium. He stated that the demolition of the stadium was the souvenir of the President to sports community of Yasouj and said: “Now the Yasouj municipality has resorted to kill the symbol sports in the Province with greed for revenue”.
Khodadad Afsharian, soccer referee pointed out that the stadium was demolished in order to build a parking lot by the municipality and added this move was a knockout and great harm to soccer and youth athletes of this province.
The Sports Commission of the National Council of Resistance of Iran salutes Yasouj youth who prevented the full demolition of the stadium by their rallies and protests, and urges all athletes, fans and the people, that in this juncture when the international community’s attention has been drawn more than ever to the mullahs’ crimes and the regime is on the verge of overthrow, to take the example of martyr Habib Khabiri, Captain of the Iranian national soccer team, to rise against this anti-Iranian regime and not to rest until its overthrow and the establishment of a popular democratic government.
