Camp Liberty under heavy attack – No. 18
Following the deadly missile attack against Camp Liberty that martyred 24 and destroyed large sections of the camp, the Governmental Committee tasked to suppress Camp Liberty residents headed by Faleh Fayyad has ratcheted up the antihuman siege on the camp.
On Saturday, November 7, for the 9th consecutive say, agents of the suppression committee prevented items such as nylon, nails, etc. needed to repair and for waterproofing the trailers and damaged facilities from getting into the camp and returned the vehicles carrying these items after stalling them in front of camp’s entrance gate for three days.
This antihuman measure is being carried out by the suppression committee while many trailers in the camp have been destroyed or rendered unusable and many others that residents are living in are seriously damaged and need repair. Without repair, the trailers cannot be used during the cold season and unfavorable climate conditions and rain.
Barring entry of items needed in the camp is a brazen violation of human rights, the Memorandum of Understanding signed between UNAMI and Government of Iraq on 25 December 2011, as well as many international covenants, and a criminal act that warrants legal prosecution.
The Iranian Resistance reminds the commitments of the international community regarding the security and wellbeing of Camp Liberty residents and calls on the U.S. government, the European Union, and the United Nations to take immediate measures to promptly end the siege on Liberty so that after the brutal missile attack camp’s residents will be able to bring their imperative needs into the camp.
