Numerous tribal sheikhs and residents of the city of Mosul in Iraq held a gathering urging international protection guaranteed for Ashraf residents.
“Camp Ashraf residents are individuals who have refuged in our land, and it is our obligation to protect them,” said a speaker at this session. “We say to the Iraqi government to respect the Iraqis’ values of hospitality and Ashraf residents’ rights. Ashraf residents are heroes who have entered the land of their messengers and we have to protect them.”
“We the sheikhs and dignitaries of Ninawa Province call on the United Nations to guarantee protection for Ashraf residents,” another speaker at this gathering said. “Ashraf residents must be treated humanely and they have been our guests for years. We will not allow any enemy to take measures against them.”
