Jalil Ibrahim, member of Diyala province council affiliated with the Kurdistan coalition slate, reiterated: “The PMOI had been under siege by the security forces for more than four months, but recent events of Iran prompted the Iraqi government to adopt new approach toward them.” , reported AKA news, Iraq on Sept.2, 2009.
He added: “The members of the organization pose no threat against Iraq and Diyala province and most of the members of Province council regard them as guests and refugees and do not agree with using force against them.”
Ibrahim also pointed to the 36 members of the organization who had been detained during recent clashes with the security forces and said that the court has ruled to their release by they are waiting for Nouri Maliki’s order to release them soon.
