Maryam Rajavi website, 16 June 2012 – Mrs. Maryam Rajavi expressed her deepest condolences for the loss of Lord Peter Archer of Sandwell, former UK prosecutor and one of the founders of Amnesty International, to his wife, family and all his colleagues in both Houses of the UK Parliament especially members of the British Parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom as well as the great family of the Iranian resistance and residents of Ashraf and Liberty.
He was a relentless advocate of human rights and democracy as well as a great friend of the Iranian Resistance and the residents of Ashraf. Mrs. Rajavi stated, “with loss of Lord Archer, Iranian Resistance has lost an honorable supporter and an advocate for justice. But there is no doubt that his unforgettable role in the campaign to support the rights of the Iranian people and resistance as well as the residents of Ashraf, has created a movement that will go on as strong as before to advocate freedom and justice.
Lord Archer stood by the Late Lord Corbett in the British Parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom to play an invaluable role in the campaign to remove the PMOI from the list of the UK proscribed organizations and the EU terrorist list.
Until his last hours, Lord Archer worked hard for protecting the rights of Ashraf and Liberty residents as the joint President of the International Parliamentary Campaign in Defence of Ashraf, and in this regard, he left glorious achievements behind. He was indeed a symbol and figure of justice and human rights amongst members of the UK Parliament.
The memory of his struggle and efforts of this honorable man who was a great friend of the Iranian Resistance will remain as unforgettable, and on the day of victory, the Iranian people will undoubtedly pay homage to such friends who stood by them and their resistance movement on harsh days.
