The Iraqi Izadi Progressive party issued a statement condemning the attack carried out by Nouri Maliki’s forces against Ashraf and asked for end to the blockade enforced on Ashraf. This statement also reads: 
“While condemning the blockade inflicted on Ashraf, we consider these acts as against international pacts regarding the rights of Ashraf residents as protected persons. We demand the following:
– International forces must retake the protection of Ashraf residents
– Iraqi government must be bound to Ashraf residents’ rights
– Ashraf’s stolen belongings be returned to its residents
