Iraq’s Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (Diyala):Missile attack on Ashraf, a war crime

The representative of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) – Diyala called the missile attack by the clerical regime against the Ashraf City a war crime and meddling and blatant incursion against Iraq’s national sovereignty and asked the official organizations to refer this aggression to international authorities to take necessary measures and to punish the Iranian regime’s proxies in Iraq.

The Statement of PUK-Diyala reads:
On May 26, 2008, the city of Ashraf in Diyala province, the residence of the PMOI members who are protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention, the guests of Iraq and are protected by the US forces, was exposed to a missile attack with Iran made Grad missiles. The signs on the remnants of the missiles and Persian marks on them clearly show the Iranian regime’s involvement in this criminal aggression.

We condemn this flagrant aggression against the international law and against the guests of Iraq, and regard it as a war crime and meddling and blatant incursion against Iraq’s national sovereignty that must be condemned by all parties in Iraq and in the international level.

We ask the official organizations to refer this aggression to international authorities to take necessary measures and to punish the Iranian regime’s proxies in Iraq.
