Iraqiya delegation meets with representatives of the diplomatic corps

Violation of human rights in Iraq and the rights of Camp Ashraf residents to move to Liberty are of international community’s concern

A delegation from the Iraqiya slate from members of the Commission on Human Rights with representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Iraq from the embassies of European missions, including Germany, Romania and discussed with them the political and private humanitarian and human rights reality in Iraq.
It was stressed at the meeting that arbitrary arrests and torture methodology in prison and a confession by torture and fabrication files judicial malicious with political objectives and the violation of the rights of women and suppression of demonstrators and other cases of human rights violations still continue in Iraq and unfortunately there is no independent body in Iraq be mission control and the reality of human rights. Our efforts as to form an independent commission for human rights in Iraq have failed in past years because of the government’s refusal to form this device, then we call serious, underlining the support of the international community in this regard.
This was pointed out in this meeting to the situation of residents of Ashraf and Liberty camps as a humanitarian and private files of human rights and of interest to the international community was discussed. The residents of Camp Ashraf since 2009 and until now have been exposed to attacks on them by the Iraqi military forces have led to the deaths of nearly 50 of them and injuring more than a thousand others were injured and they are subject three years ago and so far to the siege of inhuman therefore do not allow the Iraqi government to the delegation of the Commission on Human Rights in the Iraqi parliament to visit this camp.
More recently, in cooperation with UNAMI moved 800 of the residents of Camp Ashraf camp Liberty, but reports to us about this site confirms that Camp Liberty lacks the infrastructure appropriate to live and that this site is similar to the prison in terms of standards for the deal based on human rights because the police forces deployed in the sanctuary of living of the people on a large scale and that the Iraqi government and contrary to the statement issued by the High Commission of the United Nations Refugees (UNHCR) does not allow residents to move out of the camp and do not allow lawyers, journalists, and families to enter the camp, and do not allow for members of the Commission on Human Rights also enter the camp.
In turn, the representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Iraq, deplored these violations advertisers for their commitment to support the implementation of international law in Iraq and assist in the application of humanitarian norms, with regard to the inhabitants of Ashraf confirmed that the Iraqi government is committed to the observance of their rights and freedoms in Camp Liberty on the basis of international conventions and laws.
