Iraqi Shiite organization voices support for Iranian opposition PMOI

NCRI, 13 October 2010 – An Iraqi Shiite organization has once again expressed strong support for the ‎main opposition against the Iranian regime.‎
The Iraqi Jafari Shiite Delegation said in a statement that Iraqis of all backgrounds ‎and all patriotic forces that seek freedom and peace support liberation movements ‎and most notably the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).‎
According to the Jordanian daily al-Dastour, the delegation’s statement condemned ‎the Iranian theocracy, saying that “the most notable and dangerous example of ‎tyranny and oppression in history has been the Iranian theocracy’s which is based on ‎the absolute rule of the clerics.”‎
The Shiite group said the velayat-e faqih, or absolute clerical rule, advocates ‎violence, fundamentalism, expansionism, racism and oppression, all of which ‎threaten regional and global peace.‎
‎“As long as such an ideology exists, the regime’s threats will not target specific ‎parties,” the statement said, adding, “Therefore, it is imperative to uproot this fascist ‎regime, striking at its foundations starting with the principle of velayat-e faqih.”‎
The Jafari Shiite Delegation “believes that our support and the support of our ‎patriotic forces for the National Council of Resistance of Iran is a binding national, ‎Islamic and humanitarian duty in the context of given patriotic responsibilities in ‎confrontation with the Iranian regime’s threats and criminal policies.”‎
