Baghdad daily cited Iraqi Parliament Foreign Affairs Commission member Neda al-Jabouri backing the EP plan for Camp Ashraf.
“Camp Ashraf residents are considered protected persons under international laws,” she said. “We support all comprehensive and peaceful solutions providing protection for Ashraf because they are living in harsh conditions. We had a dialogue with the European Parliament delegation to find a peaceful solution for Ashraf residents, stressing on the necessity of them being treated humanely. Ashraf residents must enjoy international protection. We will support any effort and initiative in this regard.”
Hana al-Iraq website also reported Iraqi Parliament Security and Defense Committee Deputy Eskandar Vetvet backing this proposal.
“We agree with the European Parliament plan in case it results in a permanent and fundamental solution for this issue. We also announce our opposition to their transfer to another location inside Iraq.”
