Iraqi MPs, prominent legal figures condemn hindrances of Maliki and Iranian regime against peaceful solution for Ashraf

A number of Iraqi MPs and prominent legal figures took part in an interview with Iraq’s Change TV condemning stonewalling measures carried out by Maliki and the Iranian regime against the peaceful solution for Ashraf. These dignitaries also called for United Nations’ intervention to resolve this matter.
Iraqi MP Mohammad Eqbal from the Iraqiya Coalition called for protection of Ashraf residents’ wellbeing.
Intessar Allawi, another MP from the Iraqiya Coalition, described the transfer of Ashraf residents to Camp Liberty as a repressive measure because the new camp is similar to a prison to cover up human rights violations against Ashraf residents from the very eyes of the UN or NGOs.
Dr. Mohammad Sheikhli, President of the London-based National Center for Justice said, “We are concerned about the continuing violations by the Iraqi government regarding its commitments under the framework of the MoU it signed with UNAMI.”
Nazzar al-Sammeraii told Change TV: “These are serious pressures enforced by the Iranian regime on Maliki’s government. We know there are parties in the current Iraqi government and/or a large part of this government is politically and ideologically linked to the velayat-e faqih and the Iranian regime.”
