Iraqi MPs and distinguished democratic dignitaries issued statements protesting Maliki’s measures aimed at plundering Ashraf and Liberty residents’ property, calling on the United Nations and US government to rise to their obligations in defense of PMOI members’ rights based on international laws and conventions.

Senior Iraqiya Coalition member Dr. Zafer Al-Ani
Efforts made to confiscate Ashraf residents’ property are based on political motivations and a regional agenda tainting Iraq’s true image. PMOI’s documents prove all buildings and property in Ashraf has been purchased through their own expenses.

Iraqi MP Faeza Al-Ubaidi from the Iraqiya Coalition
We must not allow Iran to interfere in the dossier of PMOI members present in Iraq. Ashraf residents’ assets must not be confiscated because it belongs to them and it is not considered Iraqi property. Liberty must be recognized as a refugee camp to have full protection and all humane necessities provided for at that site.

Iraqi MP Jamil Adel from the Kurdistan coalition
International and human rights organizations must not allow Ashraf residents and their property to suffer any losses. Inflicting damage to PMOI members blemishes Iraq’s image and its political system.

Iraqi Umma Party Secretary General Methal Al-Alousi
Confiscating PMOI’s property is a fascist approach by the government in Baghdad that obeys by orders issued by the mullahs’ regime in Tehran. In Iraq, our borders, decency and government have been taken from us and the Iraqi government is not obligated to international covenants or even sharia laws. Human rights in Iraq have been destroyed and one cannot protect any Iraqi citizen, including the PMOI, unless we first protect Iraq from the influence of Iran’s intelligence that is ruling over Iraq today.
