Iraqi MPS, democratic forces condemn Kobler’s remarks against Ashraf-Liberty residents

The Iraqiya Association in Diyala Province is shocked over the UNAMI chief forcing Ashraf residents to forgo their rights, the Azzaman daily wrote.
The Iraqiya Association in Diyala announced in a statement, “In the UN Security Council Martin Kobler claimed Liberty meets humane standards, yet the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention affiliated to the UN Human Rights Council described Liberty as a prison and its residents being under arbitrary detention.”
The statement adds, “The question that comes to mind is that is the UN’s responsibility in Iraq the same mission that the UN covenant has specified, or is this responsibility influenced by political considerations and the interests of larger forces and their relations with ruling governments?”

Senior Iraqi MP Mahmoud Othman from the Kurdish Coalition stressed the mullahs’ regime strongly insists on eliminating Camp Ashraf, NINA news agency reported.
“For this cause the Iranian regime is placing pressure on various parties,” he added. “The UN is not placing any pressure to improve the conditions in Ashraf and its current role is only attempting to relocate Ashraf residents, which obviously will take a long time.”

The independent IPA news agency in Iraq reported Kurdish Coalition MP Mohamma Khalil as saying, “The Iraqi government has committed crimes resulting from pressures imposed by the Iranian regime. The UN must play an impartial role on the issue of Ashraf to have the residents humanitarian needs provided for and their rights not be violated.”

Association of Independent Jurists in Defense of Human Rights in Iraq
UN Secretary-General Special Representative Martin Kobler must be a part of the solution for the problem of refugees based international laws, not becoming part of the problem due to the collusion and conspiracy between the two Iraqi and Iranian regimes. The most obvious example is his recent remarks in the UN Security Council where he called for the forceful relocation of Ashraf residents to Liberty prison based on the pretext of closing Camp Ashraf. Therefore, the Association of Independent Jurists in Defense of Human Rights in Iraq calls for a personal representative to be appointed by the Secretary-General to look into the issue of Ashraf and Liberty and evaluate the residents’ problems.

Iraqi Center of Newspapers and Publicity in Baghdad
Depriving the residents of Liberty of water shows the height of the Iraqi government’s insult to human rights values. The Iraqi government intends to torture the residents with unacceptable methods according to all international and regional customs.
While condemning these measures, our center calls the residents basic demands, access to ordinary services and fuel and foods to be provided for.

Iraqi Association of War Victims
The Iraqi government intends to cut-off water in the scorching summer heat of 55 degrees Celsius and place pressure on our brothers and sisters in Liberty who are under harsh conditions.
We call on the US government to intervene and impel the Iraqi government to end its inhumane pressures against the residents.

Center of Brotherhood and Friendship in Iraq
The problem of lack of water in Liberty is a serious crisis and in the month of Ramadhan, it becomes even more necessary to solve this problem from its roots. We call for action by the US government based on its commitments to solve the crisis and forcing the Iraqi government to bring an end to its inhuman pressures and immediately connecting Liberty to the main water network.

Kurdish Committee in Defense of Ashraf
What is currently witnessed from Martin Kobler is an example of the UN’s cooperation with dictators. Due to this, enormous amounts of pressure and losses have been imposed on Ashraf refugees while 2,000 of them have been transferred to Liberty prison by force.
Considering Martin Kobler’s recent remarks and positions, he is not an impartial individual to solve the issue of Ashraf refugees and it would be more proper for the UN Secretary-General to assign another individual to solve this issue.
