Twenty-five Iraqi parliamentarians from various factions called on Medhat Mahmoud, Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council Head, to personally intervene to implement the ruling of Khalis’s judge who ordered the release of 36 Iranians who were arrested during the raid by Iraqi police force on Camp Ashraf on July 28, reported Al-Babeliya TV, Iraq, onAugust 28, 2009.
In a telegram to Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations, the MPs requested Secretary’s personal involvement with the Iraqi Government to gain the release of 36 Iranians who where ruled to be released by a judge in the city of Khalis.
