Iraqi MP demands respect for Liberty residents after delisting

NINA (Iraqi news agency), 13 Oct 2012 – Iraqi MP Shuwan Mohammad Taha from the Kurdish coalition called on the Iraqi government to respect the demands of Liberty residents and treat them according to humanitarian standards.
“Iraqi laws must be implemented regarding Liberty residents and after the removal of their organization from the terrorist list, they are considered refugees. Therefore, we must treat them as a democratic government and based on international laws and standards,” this Iraqi MP said in recent remarks to the media.
“UN’s international monitors are monitoring this camp after the transfer of the residents from Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty. Therefore, we see it necessary to evacuate this camp in a humanitarian manner,” he added.
“The relevant legal advisors and jurists must review the rights of these individuals following the delisting of their organization from the terrorist list, and if they are ready to remain in Iraq, this is a natural issue and Iraqi laws can be implemented in this issue, for them to abide by these laws as refugees,” Taha continued.
This Iraqi MP stressed on “the necessity of treating this dossier based on international laws and standards, thus respecting human rights because there are families, women and elderly living in this camp.”
