Iraqi MP Ahmad al-Massari, from the Iraqiya Coalition, rejected and condemned the deadline assigned for the expulsion of Ashraf residents from Iraq.
“The Iraqi government’s intention to expel Camp Ashraf residents in an obligatory manner before the end of the year is a result of Iranian regime’s pressures,” he said. “Mandatory expulsion is not accepted by the international community or any other party.”
“The case of Ashraf residents must be resolved in a completely transparent method,” al-Massari continued, “and the best solution is to utilize international laws. The UN and EU have presented good solutions to the Iraqi government, and Baghdad must respect these solutions.”
“Iraq’s conditions will not allow action to be taken against Ashraf residents – who have international characteristics – because Iraq’s relations with many different countries and parties in the UN and EU will become very tense.”
