Iraqi MP Talal al-Zobai’i from the Iraqiya Coalition called on the Iraqi government to “treat the case of Liberty in a moral and humanitarian manner due to its sensitivities”, Iraq’s NINA news agency reported on Monday.
In a press interview al-Zobai’i said 133 Iraqi MPs called on all nationalistic parties in the Parliament to provide support on the issue of Camp Liberty residents.
Al-Zobai’i also called on the Iraqi government to “respect international laws regarding human rights in the case of the residents and treat them as guests, not prisoners”.
Al-Zobai’i added, “A large portion of the Iraqi people express their gratitude to the residents of this camp and members of People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran for their assistance and services to the Iraqi people.”
