Iraqi Member of Parliament calls on Maliki to respond about events in Ashraf

Mahmoud Uthman, parliamentarian from the Kurdish Coalition, called on Maliki to respond before the parliament to the recent explosions and the actions he has ordered against the residents of Ashraf, the Iranian opposition. Alarabalyawm daily, published in Jordan, reported on August 28, 2009.

Uthman stated that the foremost authority who is answerable regarding the recent bloody incidents in Iraq and also the crisis of Camp Ashraf is Nouri al-Maliki the prime minister and that Maliki should offer his resignation.

This Kurdish MP asked the Parliament of Iraq to hold an emergency session to discuss this issue and ask the Maliki’s government as a necessary matter to lift all restrictions imposed on the PMOI and release all detainees and abductees, and especially during Ramadan holy month respect the tombs, return back whatever have been stolen from the families and from the camp including vehicles, trucks and other properties stolen during the attacks, respect their rights and protect their properties.

He added that what happened should not happen again because it is a crime that is not forgivable according to international law and international customary law.
