Iraqi Member of Parliament called on his government to stop its measures against Ashraf residents

Taha al-Luhaibi, member of Iraqi parliament condemned the actions carried out against the members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) in Iraq, Alarabalyawm daily, published in Jordan, reported on August 29, 2009.

Al-Luhaibi said: “What is done against these people is a violation of the Geneva Convention and the Human Rights Protocol.”

Taha al-Luhaibi called the Iranian regime as the main party responsible for the problems of the residents of Ashraf whose camp has been attacked. He said, “If the influences of the Iranian regime did not exist, the Iraqi government would not have treated the Iranians like that.”

Taha al-Luhaibi called on his government to reconsider its position in this regard as the first step in stopping those measures.

The hunger strike by 36 PMOI members taken hostage by Iraqi forces as well as the hunger strike by Ashraf residents and the supporters of Resistance in Washington DC, Ottawa, London, Berlin, The Hague, and Stockholm has entered its second month.
