Iraqi Deputy PM demands Iranian refugees be returned to Ashraf

Malaf Website, 11 Feb 2013 – Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Saleh al-Mutlak called for Iranian refugees in Camp Liberty be returned to Camp Ashraf.
The missile attack that targeted Camp Liberty and left a number of residents killed and wounded is the reason why this camp is not safe for these refugees to live in, he said in a press release.
The transfer of refugees from Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty placed them under the fire of paramilitary forces, he continued, adding Camp Ashraf is surrounded by desert and open areas providing more security than Liberty. As a result, it is better for these refugees to be transferred there to protect their lives.
One of the reasons that lead to the transfer of these Iranian refugees to Liberty was preparations to find a third country for their asylum, the deputy premier said. Now this has proven to be incorrect and it has become clear that their transfer is not an easy task.
