Iraqi-Arabic committees describes Maliki’s deadline on Ashraf as defiance of international laws

A declaration by thirteen Iraqi and Arabic committees described the Iraqi government’s deadline against Ashraf as defiance of international laws.
Excerpts of this declaration are as follows:
“These committees call on the UN to station its monitors in Ashraf, emphasizing international efforts are on the rise to resolve the Ashraf crisis in a peaceful and acceptable manner based on the International Humanitarian Law and international conventions on refugee rights.
“The UNHCR has announced the residents of the camp are now officially considered as refugees under international law and must enjoy fundamental protection, security and welfare.
“This commission has also called on the Iraqi government to lift its deadline against Ashraf and provide the necessary needs for the UNHCR to follow up on the residents’ refugee status.
“Considering the fact that the Iraqi government has proven it is the instrument of the Iranian regime in regards to Camp Ashraf, we call on the UN to station its team of observers in Ashraf.”
