Iraqi Parliament Human Rights Commission Chairman Salim Abdullah al-Jabouri and Commission Spokesman Heidar al-Mulla issued a declaration calling for the Camp Ashraf closure deadline to be postponed.

Ashraf residents are refugees protected under the Fourth Geneva Convention, and international laws and human rights principles govern this case. Therefore, this dossier must be separated from any kind of political consideration.
It is necessary to stress that based on the non-refoulement principle, relocation inside Iraq is not considered an acceptable solution for any of the Ashraf residents.
The year-end deadline must be postponed until the end of the UNHCR’s procedures and the voluntary transfer of all Ashraf residents to third countries until the very last person. International protection for this process must be provided for.
