Supporters of the Iranian Resistance and the PMOI staged a demonstration outside the Canadian Federal Parliament in Ottawa, announcing their support for Ashraf. These demonstrators rejoiced the recent victory of the UNHCR statement recognizing Ashraf residents’ rights.
The participants in this rally quoted the Iranian Resistance President-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi saying these measures are necessary but not enough. They demanded recognition of Ashraf residents’ collective refugee rights and protection for Ashraf be guaranteed by the US and UN. The demonstrators welcomed the Iranians’ rally being organized against Ahmadinejad’s presence in New York and invited all to take part in this protest, considering it a national and patriotic duty.
