Iranian New Year celebration at British Parliament in support of Iranian Resistance

Iranian New Year celebration at British Parliament in support of Iranian Resistance

On the invitation of the parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom in British Parliament on occasion of Iranian New Year, a reception was held in one the parliament’s halls with participation of more than hundred representatives of Houses of Commons and Lords and political and human rights personalities and a number of Iranian Resistance members and supporters.

Lord Robin Corbett – U.K. House of Lords, chairman of British Parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom, congratulated beginning of the New Year and welcomed the Parliament Members and desired for implementation of democracy and freedom in Iran in the New Year.

Then Lord Peter Archer, former British prosecutor, delivered speech and said: The Iranian people are waiting for a new birth, the news coming from Iran indicate occurrence of demonstrations and gatherings and strikes by various sectors of society and the only thing that the Iranian people need is to be insured that the people of the world support them.

Then the following representatives delivered speeches:
– Brian Binley, U.K. House of Commons from Conservative Party
– Lord Russell Johnston, prominent member of Liberal Democratic Party and former member of Parliamentary Assembly of European Council
– Lord David Waddington, former British Home Secretary
– Lord Tony Clarke, former chairman of Labor Party
– Roger Gale , U.K. House of Commons
– Andrew McKinley, prominent member of parliament’s Foreign Commission
– Mark Williams, U.K. House of Commons, from Liberal Democratic Party
– Baroness Turner, prominent member of UK House of Lords from Labor Party
– Lord Inglewood, UK House of Lords from Labor Party

Then Lord Robin Corbett appreciated the vast support of British representatives of both Houses from the objectives of the Parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom and said: Majority of representatives of House of Commons and more than half of the active representatives of the House of Lords support the Iranian Resistance.
