NEW YORK (Herald Whig) – Iranian-Americans and their supporters were demanding the removal of the country’s government.
Thousands gathered Monday near the United Nations, where Iran’s president spoke.
Protesters say more than 2,000 dissidents have been executed in the past two years.
This year, a key issue is the Iran deal just approved by Congress that would lift economic sanctions in return for restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program.
A former U.S. ambassador to the U.N., Bill Richardson, spoke at the rally.
