NEW YORK —New York Time reported Monday Sep. 28, 2015 from the UN headquarter that Iranian-Americans and their supporters demanded the removal of the country’s government.
Thousands gathered Monday near the United Nations, where Iran’s president was scheduled to speak.
Protesters said more than 2,000 dissidents have been executed in the past two years.
This year, a key issue is the Iran deal that would lift economic sanctions in return for restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program.
A former U.S. ambassador to the U.N., Bill Richardson, spoke at the rally. He said he supports the nuclear part of the deal but is very concerned about a possible arms escalation that could endanger Israel.
The rally was led by two groups: the Organization of Iranian-American Communities and the National Council of Resistance of Iran.
