On invitation of The French Committee for a Free and Democratic Iran a session entitled ’Future of Iran’ was held at the French National Assembly with participation of a number of Parliament members and other French political and juridical personalities and the representative of the National Council of Resistance of Iran.
In this session which was held in support of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) and the Iranian Resistance, the Iran’s issue at the present sensitive situation, failure of the appeasement policy with the Iranian regime, situation of the Iranian Resistance and Ashraf residents and the necessity of implementation of the European courts regarding annulment of the terrorist label from the PMOI by the European Union were discussed.
Jean-Philip Maurer, representative of the French National Assembly from the ruling UMP party and member of the French Committee for a Free and Democratic Iran, inaugurated the session.
Dr. Saleh Rajavi, representative of the NCRI in France delivered speech and described the obnoxious policy of appeasement with the mullahs by the west and its unlucky consequences i.e. terrorist labeling of the PMOI and pointed out that this designation obstructs democratic change in Iran and gives an excuse to mullahs for intensification of suppression, execution and export of terrorism and fundamentalism.
Alain Vivien, former French Foreign Minister, in his speech, described the policy of making concession with the clerical regime by the west a cowardly and dangerous which is against France national interests because the Iranian regime is advancing its nuclear programs and we may witness that regime to acquire nuclear bomb next year.
François Colcombet, judge and former MP, was the next speaker and referring to the removal of the PMOI from the proscribed organizations in Britain by the British courts’ verdicts condemned the insistence of the European Union particularly France on keeping the PMOI in the terrorist list.
In his speech, Gilles Paruelle, former head of Bar Association in Val d’Oise, said: It is a quarter of century that the Ashraf residents have dedicated all their lives for their struggle. They are democrats. The French people particularly the Val d’Oise province support the Iranian Resistance and recently the support of close to 70 mayors of this province from he Iranian Resistance was announced. Now, there is talk of transfer of Ashraf protection to the Iraqi forces; in that case the possibility of human tragedy is not unlikely.
Jean-Pierre Berart, member of French Parliament, described terrorist designation of the PMOI a stupid fake for runty economic interests. He emphasized that majority of the French National Assembly members support the Iranian Resistance and its goals and programs for establishment of a democratic and secular government.
At the end the French Committee for a Free and Democratic Iran released a statement that partly reads: In the last July, Majority of the French National Assembly members signed a statement which reads: ’ A realistic policy for France is support of establishing democracy and observance of human rights in Iran and support of peace and stability in the Middle East, the objectives that is pursued by the NCRI and its President-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi.’, The unjust register of the PMOI in the terrorist list prevents implementation of these objectives; more than that this is a pretext in the Iranian regime’s hands to increase its pressure on the opposition members residing in Camp Ashraf who are known as the protected political refugees by the Fourth Geneva Convention.
