Amer al-Karkhi, member of the Iraqi Diyala Provincial Council from Iraqiya: The appointment of a special representative for Ashraf affairs by Catherine Ashton, EU Foreign Policy Chief, is of great importance. We agree with any plan or program that guarantees the rights of Ashraf residents. The position of the Diyala Provincial Council members’ affiliated with Iraqiya is obligation to international laws, the same laws under which the Ashraf residents are considered refugees under international protection. The provisions of the Fourth Geneva Convention must be implemented in regard to them.
