Delisting legitimizes resistance against Iranian regime: PMOI spokesman

Akaz daily (Saudi Arabia), 5 Oct 2012 – Opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran spokesman Hossein Dai’alislam emphasized the US State Department decision based on delisting this organization from the US terror list is a new victory for this movement. This issue legitimizes resistance against the Iranian regime, he said.
“This decision corrects the wrong and failed policy followed by the US for the past 15 years that disregarded the interests of the people of Iran and all regional countries because it allowed the Iranian regime to crackdown on its opposition and interfere in the countries in the region and around the world,” he said in an interview from inside Camp Liberty.
Dai’alislam explained the PMOI delisting will increase global pressures on Iran, intensify its internal crises and step up its regional and international isolation.
Iran is attempting through its proxies in Iraq to increase pressures against the members of this organization in Camp Liberty, he explained, accusing Maliki’s government of targeting Ashraf residents on numerous incidents. Following this decision, there is no excuse for the Iraqi government to breach Camp Ashraf residents’ international and humanitarian rights, he explained.
The PMOI spokesman called on the UN spokesman and US government to impel the Iraqi government to abide by its obligations towards the UN and international community on Ashraf residents rights, security and well being, listing the issues Ashraf residents are suffering from including an all-out siege and no freedom of movement as in violation of international laws and conventions.
The US State Department announced in its statement the removal of the opposition PMOI from the black list of “terrorist” organizations.
