
The Washington Post, Brussels, Belgium October 23, 2008 — A European Union court has ruled that EU governments should no longer freeze the funds of an Iranian opposition group on the bloc’s terror blacklist.
The European Union placed the People’s Mujahedeen Organization of Iran
But the group appealed to the Luxembourg-based Court of First Instance for the funds to be unfrozen after a British court ruled in its favor last year.
The European court on Thursday ruled that the decision by EU governments to continue to freeze the group’s funds was wrong in the wake of the British court decision. The British government intends to appeal the national ruling.
