Coordination Committee of Iraqi National Forces including Conference of Ahal al-Iraq, National Accord Movement, National Dialogue Front and National Dialogue Council, in a statement, emphasized necessity of continuance of the US force’s protection of Ashraf City.
Part of this statement reads: “The propagation of provocative news by certain media outlets threatening of taking revenge and suppression of the PMOI members in the form of transfer of their protection from the US forces has become a matter of concern for the nationalist and tribal personalities. These events are the consequence of the Iranian regime’s pressures, aimed at taking revenge from its opposition, and it therefore violates Iraqi sovereignty and insults our people, our traditions and our Islamic behavior.
“Therefore, to counter the risks and to prevent the human tragedy and the dangers that threaten Ashraf residents, and as long as there is no sufficient institutionalized guarantees for their rights, the US forces need to continue to protect Camp Ashraf. We believe this issue is a step toward guarding Iraq as an independent country, having sovereignty, country of law and committed to international law. This measure is also a step toward signalizing moral and Islamic traditions of the Iraqi people.”
