Maryam Rajavi Website, 2 Nov 2011 – Palestine is a full member of UNESCO, scientific and cultural organization of the UN.
Today in a session held at the main headquarters of UNESCO in Paris, the accession of Palestine was adopted with an impressive majority.
In a message to the President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi said:
I sincerely congratulate you on the victory of the international campaign of Palestine under your leadership and the formal vote of the international community in support of accession of Palestine to UNESCO.
 
Your brothers and sisters in Ashraf, political prisoners and families of martyrs and prisoners and all the Iranian people share this joy of victory with the Palestinian people, its prisoners and the families of Palestinian martyrs.
Mrs. Rajavi added: This great victory which was achieved, despite obstructions, is undoubtedly the result of your leadership in this hard and decisive period.  I’m sure this is a prelude to the realization of dreams of all peoples of the region that is to say, the recognition of an independent Palestinian state as a full member of the UN.
At the same time, this is a blow to the religious fascism ruling Iran which demagogically under the guise of defending Palestine has inflicted the utmost harm to the peace and the ideal of an independent Palestine. That is why it presented strong enmity towards the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
