Canadian committee calls for Iran’s human rights dossier referred to UN Security Council

Marking International Human Rights, a press conference was held in the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa at the initiative of The Canadian of Friends of a Democratic Iran committee consisting of Canadian MPs, officials and human rights activists. Mr. David Kilgour, former Canadian minister and MP and a prominent human rights activist in Canada delivered a speech at this conference as the Co-Chair of The Canadian of Friends of a Democratic Iran committee.
In his speech Kilgour referred to a recent resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly Third Committee condemning gross and systematic human rights violations in Iran, the recent wave of arbitrary executions and the murder of political prisoners under torture such as Sattar Beheshti. Many Iranians are in prison simply for having one or more relatives in Ashraf or Liberty, he added.
Mr. Kilgour called on the Canadian government to refer Iran’s human rights dossier to the UN Security Council and demand the regime’s officials be brought to justice for their inhumane crimes.
Mr. Kilgour ended his speech by calling for the recognition of the National Council of Resistance of Iran and the international community to end any and all kinds of appeasement with the dictatorship ruling Iran and stand alongside the Iranian people’s organized resistance for regime change as the only method of relieving the world of the mullahs’ evil.
