CAMP LIBERTY ROCKET ATTACK

That this House believes that the 29 October 2015 rocket attack on Camp Liberty, home to over 2,200 defenseless members of Iran’s democratic opposition, the PMOI, who are Protected Persons under International Law and political refugees, which resulted in 24 camp residents being killed and many more injured, constitutes a crime against humanity and is a flagrant violation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the government of Iraq and the UN, on 25 December 2011; highlights the reports on the role of Tehran regime and its proxies in GoI for this unprovoked massacre and warns of future attacks; urges the Government, the EU, US and UN to take immediate steps to ensure all restrictions on the camp are ended, UN medical teams are stationed within the camp to provide emergency medical treatment, basic necessities including fuel, food, equipment and materials needed to rebuild shelters are provided, T-walls are returned and residents’ protective vests and helmets returned to them; reiterates the demands of the International Community and the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, Mrs Maryam Rajavi, for a full international investigation be carried out into the attack with the perpetrators of the attack being brought to justice; and calls on the UN and the UNHCR to formally recognize Camp Liberty as a refugee camp and to have the protection of Camp Liberty handed over from the Iraqi government to independent UN-led officials, ensuring that the lives of the remaining residents are protected.
