Dr. Sheikh Abdol-Rahman, known as “Abu Rishe”, general sheikh of the Abu Rishe Tribe and founder of the Iraqi Awakening Council said we support our brothers in Camp Ashraf and will not accept any aggressions and attacks against them that because are inhumane measures and against our religious beliefs. Emphasizing these attacks must come to an end, Abu Rishe added the Iraqi government must provide full protection because it is responsible for their life, security and settlement of the residents.
“The Iranian regime’s interference in Iran is completely obvious not only for Iraqis, but for all…” Abu Rishe added. “These aggressions against Camp Ashraf are taking place through illegal insurgents. We will never allow this and we call on the Iraqi government to reevaluate its conduct with them because they are our guests.”
On the subject of Ashraf residents’ relocation Abu Rishe said, “We want Ashraf residents to remain in their current location because they have been present there for a long period, and all necessary measures by the UN must be implemented because they are refugees. We call on the prime minister to practice humane behavior towards Camp Ashraf… their issue has grave importance and Diyala Province must protect their lives.”
On the issue of cutting off humanitarian assistance, basic medical supplies and preventing humanitarian organizations from meeting the residents, Abu Rishe said: “This is unacceptable and international organizations and the Arab League will not accept that. The prime minister must provide their food and medical needs.”
