End the terrorist listing of PMOI now – no more delay

Dear Excellency,

Australian Supporters of Democracy in Iran warmly welcome the June 1 ruling of the Federal Court of Appeal in Washington in the matter of the Foreign Terrorist Organisation listing of the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran. This ruling is a victory for justice over collusion and appeasement with a fascist-like clerical dictatorship.
We urge you, the US Secretary of State, to implement the court writ expeditiously, with no further delay, thus ending an erroneous, destructive and grossly unjust policy which has stained the history of your country for these past 15 years.
We also urge you to seize this moment to recognize the National Council of Resistance of Iran, of which the PMOI is a major component, as the main opposition party to the dictatorship and to support its President-elect Mrs Maryam Rajavi. The NCRI policy is NO to War on Iran, No to appeasement of the dictatorship, and YES to support for the democratic movement of the Iranian people to take back their freedom, their rights, their country from the dictatorship.
This illegitimate label has been a key factor in helping the religious fascism ruling Iran to maintain power these last 15 years. It has been used to justify two massacres at Ashraf City, Iraq, the arrest and execution of many members and supporters of the PMOI/MEK and the Iranian resistance inside Iran, as well as cruel restrictions against Iranian Americans in the United States. This very day, this ’terrorist’ label is still being used as leverage by the Iranian regime and the Iraqi government to suppress the residents of Ashraf City and Camp Liberty.
Once again, we urge you to seize the truth thrust upon you by the Washington Court of Appeal, and to de-list the PMOI forthwith. We continue to press for the same action from the Australian government, which has maintained the same unjust policy since December 2001.
