Iraqiya Coalition official spokeswoman Meysoun al-Damalouji announced her opposition to the mandatory expulsion of Ashraf residents, describing such a measure as a violation of human rights.
“Ashraf residents have never had a single security or military violation,” she said in a press statement, “because they have abided by all their signed agreements. There are individuals in the Iraqi government who intend to take advantage of this issue for political purposes.”
Al-Damalouji went on to stress on the necessity of international intervention regarding the issue of Camp Ashraf and that a comprehensive solution is needed for this camp, not a phase to phase plan,.
“The mandatory expulsion of Ashraf residents that the Iraqi government intends to carry out by the end of this year is against human rights concepts,” she added. “For this dilemma, we must rely on UN and EU solutions.”
