Iraqi MP and former interior minister Fallah al-Naqib from the Iraqiya Coalition said Ashraf residents were never considered a threat for Iraqi security.
“The issue of Ashraf residents is first and foremost a humanitarian issue and not a political subject, meaning they were never considered a threat for the security of Iraq or any other party,” al-Naqib said.
The former Iraqi interior minister said Ashraf residents are the guests of the Iraqi people, and the nature of the Iraqi people is to have hospitality towards their guests.
Fallah al-Naqib said political forces close to Tehran seek to expel Ashraf residents from Iraq and we say to them Ashraf residents’ lives and security must not be threatened.
