Adel Barwary, advisor to Iraqi Prime Minister described Ashraf residents as political refugees and called for their humane treatment.
“Ashraf residents must be treated humanely on the basis that they are political refugees,” he said.
“This solution is the best solution because it brings an end to their suffering,” Barwary said in approving the European Parliament proposal for Ashraf.
“Considering the fact that Ashraf residents are suffering from numerous hardships, I believe it is necessary to understand their exceptional conditions, especially from a humanitarian point of view,” he added. “Their lives and properties must be protected under the pretext that they are Iraq’s guests.”
“The Iranian regime’s aggressions have become a daily matter, especially in the Kurdistan region,” Barwary continued. “Iraq’s Kurdish regions have been battered and innocent villagers are being victimized.”
“In addition to its special relationship with the Iranian regime, the government is involved in other cases too,” he said in regards to the Iraqi government’s silence towards the Iranian regime’s attacks against Iraqi Kurdistan regions.
