Iraqi Parliament Human Rights Commission Chairman Salim Abdullah al-Jabouri emphasized the case of Camp Ashraf must be handled under international and human rights standards.
“In handling the case of Camp Ashraf, it should be fully pursued under international standards and respect for human rights,” al-Jabouri said. “Politically, Iraqi sovereignty should be respected and measures in this regard must refrain from having regional impacts.”
“The Iraqi government is influenced by regional countries and this issue is not allowing it to pursue the improvement of Ashraf residents’ status,” the Iraqi Parliament Human Rights Commission chairman added. “And this is at a time when Iraq must show to what extent it respects human rights and is committed to international standards.”
Baghdad TV reported the Iraqi Parliament Human Rights Commission chairman called on Maliki to refrain from any measures against Camp Ashraf residents that is against international laws.
