Arab sheikhs, jurists and associations issue statements in support of Ashraf residents’ humanitarian requests

Council of Iraqi Assembly Sheikhs and Dignitaries:
The Iraqi government‘s efforts and the threatening remarks of Maliki’s security advisor against Ashraf residents are taking place at the behest of the Iranian regime. These measures show the lack of impartiality in the stance of UN representative Kobler’s stance has encouraged the Iraqi government to dishonor its obligations. We oppose any involuntary relocation of Ashraf residents before the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding and providing minimum humanitarian necessities.

Northern Iraqi Jurists Association:
We announce that Mr. Martin, by favoring the cruel, is coordinating increasing pressure and harassment on Ashraf and Liberty residents, and is delegitimizing the UN’s stature among the Iraqi people.
Therefore, we call for the UN Secretary-General’s intervention in this issue and replacing him with another representative.
In our opinion the remarks made by the national security advisor against Ashraf residents in a recent conference not only lack any legal value, in fact they don’t even abide by the minimum humanitarian standards.

Delegation in Defense of Human Rights in Iraq:
We warn international parties regarding the conspiracy objectives of remarks made in the conference held by Maliki’s national security advisor and Martin Kobler. We hold these parties responsible on their legal and moral obligations in this issue.
Unfortunately, through his biased cooperation with the Iraqi government the UN representative has breached all his promises and commitments made to Ashraf residents, before or after their transfer to Liberty.

Kurdistan Region Friendship with Iranian People Society
Mr. Marin Kobler, UN Secretary General’s Special Representative, calls on the Iraqi Government to not take up violence, however, he has not lived up to his impartial role and is giving Faleh Fayaz a green light.
Forcing the Ashraf residents to go to Liberty without the provision of minimum humanitarian needs and the violation of their fundamental rights under the pretext of Iraqi sovereignty is unacceptable. To this end, we call on the UN and the US to take up their responsibilities towards the protection of Ashraf residents.

Kurdish Committee in Defense of Ashraf
Martin Kobler, UN Secretary General’s Special Representative, is openly siding with the Iraqi Government in forcefully transferring the residents and piling and imprisoning them in Liberty.
The Kurdish Committee in Defense of Ashraf, while supporting the Ashraf residents’ legitimate demands, calls on everyone to raise their voice against this injustice imposed on these refugees.

Arab Lawyers’ Delegation in Defense of Liberty Residents
The Arab Lawyers’ Delegation in Defense of Liberty Residents brings the attention of foreign ambassadors and international organization representatives, who took part in Faleh Fayaz, Maliki’s advisor, conference to this issue that they should not be the victims of the vile conspiracies of the Iraqi Government, Iranian regime and the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative.
The goal of these conspiracies is to legitimize the suppressive measures against Ashraf and Liberty residents.

Egyptian Lawyers Association in Defense of Ashraf Residents
The humanitarian demands of the Ashraf residents in order for them to transfer to Camp Liberty are logical and they are flawless. They demand international and legal guarantees in order to complete the relocation process from Ashraf to Liberty.
We urge the UN and UNHCR to recognize the legal status of Camp Liberty as a refugee camp under the complete monitoring of the UN and UNHCR so that there will be no gaps for the mullahs’ regime and its proxies in Iraq to implement their conspiracies against these refugees.
