Al-Arab al-Youm, 11 Oct 2012 – Ayad Allawi believes delisting PMOI from US terrorist list is unlikely to have any effect on the Iranian refugees’ situation in Iraq.
In his press remarks, he said that the policy followed by the Iraqi government regarding the Iranian refugees was influenced by the Iranian regime. The former Iraqi premier continued while it is given that after removal of PMOI from the terrorist list, since they are not regarded as terrorists any more, Iraqi government’s stance changes, but I don’t know if the Iranian refugees’ situation and Iraqi government’s stance toward them due to Iranian regime’s dictations on this government will change or not.
Allawi encourages treatment with these refugees based on hospitality, Iraqi values and International law.
He said that they had been treated based on international law and Arab hospitality at the time of his premiership. He reiterated until their final disposition and safe return to their home country, they are Iraq’s guests.
