Al-Anbar senior sheikh calls on Clinton to respect US duties in protecting Ashraf-Liberty residents

Sheikh Abbas Mohammad al-Abbas al-Jassem al-Jumaily, emir of the al-Jamila al-Qeisiya tribe in Iraq’s al-Anbar Province issued a letter to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton emphasizing on her administration to live up to US’ commitments regarding the protection of Ashraf and Liberty residents.
The text of this letter is as follows:

Madam Secretary,
Our country is on the verge of sliding towards a sectarian war due to the monopolist policies of Prime Minister Maliki. The Iranian regime is the main supporter of such policies through its interferences in Iraq and supporting Maliki’s government, preventing any change as a result. Explosions, assassinations, poverty, unemployment, arrests and torture and fabricating judicial cases are all scenes the witnessed by the Iraqi people on a daily basis.  However, another challenge facing the Iraqi government is the presence of the Iranian regime main opposition in Iraq.
The Iranian regime goes to the limits for the annihilation of the opposition movement People’s Mojahedin. Maliki’s government, owing its establishment and continued survival to the Iranian regime’s support, is paying what it owes to this regime from the pockets of the Iranian people’s resistance in order to show its supererogation and gain Tehran’s consent.
2,000 Ashraf residents transferred to Camp Liberty in two months. However, their most basic rights are neglected before the very eyes of UN observers. Adequate water and electricity is not provided for them. They are deprived of medical care and the right to sell their assets and property. None of the agreements reached in the Memorandum of Understanding have been implemented.
Another leverage used by the Iranian regime and Iraqi government to impose pressure is the US terror listing of the PMOI. Most Iraqi people and tribes are shocked of this listing, astonished of the fact that the State Department sees no difference between terrorism and a true popular resistance that is struggling for freedom.
Therefore, we call on you to immediately delist the PMOI and by unshackling their hands, the Iranian Resistance will be able to play its true role in bringing about democratic change in Iran.
