Current pressures against PMOI at Ashraf and Liberty result of Iranian regime pressures on Iraqi Government

We the Members of the Iraqi Parliament from the Iraqiya faction have closely followed the issue of the PMOI’s terrorist listing and the Washington, D.C Court of Appeals verdict that has yet to be settled by the US Department of State.
We all well-know that the Iraqi Government uses the US terrorist designation to suppress and continue the inhumane siege on Ashraf and Liberty. The US, by implementing the court’s verdict and revoking the illegitimate terrorist designation, should send a clear message to the Iraqi Government and prevent any future use of this listing as a pretext for further atrocities.
On the other hand, this is a well-known issue in Iraq that current pressures against the PMOI in Ashraf and Liberty are the result of the Iranian regime’s pressures on the Iraqi Government. This is the regime that uses the terrorist designation inside Iran and its prisons to carryout atrocities against the PMOI and its supporters.
The fact that the PMOI has turned to the US Judiciary and restlessly followed the case through legal and democratic streams is proof of its democratic nature, which has raised a lot of sympathy for them throughout the world.
The bottom line is that correcting the mistake widely misused by Tehran’s tyrannical rulers during the past years must not be delayed.
By ending the illegitimate designation of the PMOI, we hope that the US Department of State will relieve itself of a misled policy that has hurt the interest and credibility of the US.
