Statement by the Center for Legal Studies for Progress and Human Rights – April 26, 2011


We condemn the heinous attack against Camp Ashraf which left 35 dead and hundreds of wounded.


We consider the Iraqi government responsible for this criminal attack. At this moment, there are wounded residents at Camp Ashraf and the Committee for Suppression of Ashraf does not allow them to leave the camp.


We call on the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) and the international humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene for saving the lives of the wounded residents so that they can go for surgery to specialized hospitals and be treated.


Also make the Iraqi government withdraw its forces from the Morvarid cemetery and its surrounding areas, so that the burial ceremonies of the martyrs can be done in peace.
