The government sources reported that after months of bickering, the labor council announced the minimum workers’ wages is set at 712,425 Toomans for next year. This means only an increase of 103,430 Toomans. This is at the time when the poverty line has been set at 1.5 million Toomans. The authorities declared the wages of 11.5 million workers is now set at even less than half the amount of the official poverty line. At the same time, other governmental sources have said the amount of poverty line is 2.5 or 3 million Toomans.
The government has previously claimed that as it has been agreed with workers representatives the minimum wage would be set equal to the poverty line which in that case it would be at the minimum requirement for a family to survive.
